Clyde C. Newberry, Jr.

Sylvania - Clyde Cox Newberry, Jr., age 88, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at The Place at Pooler in Pooler, GA. Mr. Newberry was born in San Angelo, TX to Clyde C., Sr. & Bain Porter Newberry. After they divorced, his mother married Lee J. Andrews, who was a very good influence on him. Sylvania - Clyde Cox Newberry, Jr., age 88, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at The Place at Pooler in Pooler, GA. Mr. Newberry was born in San Angelo, TX to Clyde C., Sr. & Bain Porter Newberry. After they divorced, his mother married Lee J. Andrews, who was a very good influence on him. While attending Sul Ross College in Texas, he met Marjorie Rhodes and married her in 1950 and a short time later he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Range Animal Husbandry. He farmed and was very active in the Screven County Livestock Assoc. and worked at Sylvania Spinning until moving his family to Sanibel Island, FL in 1975. While in FL, his family operated a landscaping business until moving back to Screven County in 1985. He was a member of Buck Creek United Methodist Church where he was active in Men's Club and enjoyed collecting antique pocketknives and later he and Marjorie did antique shows that gave them an opportunity to travel widely and make many lasting friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Rhodes Newberry and a son, Scott Porter Newberry.

Mr. Newberry is survived by his children: Kathleen N. Forehand of Sylvania, Julia N. (Matt) Stewart of Warner Robins, GA and Brian E. Newberry of Pooler, GA; Sisters: Linda N. (Bob) Steinberg of Dallas, TX and Martha N. (Kelvin) Miller of San Angelo, TX; Brothers: Alan Andrews of McCamey, TX and Doug (Diane) Attaway of Waco, TX; Grandchildren: Teerah (Bruce) Rowell, Jeremy (Ashlee) Forehand, Lindsey (Fred) Davis, Erin (Oliver) Sanders, Atalie Stewart, Jason (Sherry) Newberry, Scott Newberry and Nathan Newberry; Great-Grandchildren: Justin Rowell, Bradley Rowell, Olivia Sanders, Joseph Newberry, Caylee Newberry, Savannah Sanders and Kinslee Forehand; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Buck Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Purnell officiating. Burial following in church cemetery. Visitation will be after the graveside services.
