Sylvania -Dorothy Joyner Moore, age 90, went home to her Lord on Friday afternoon, June 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 20, 1926 to Mark and Lurene Joyner in Screven County, GA. She had 9 brothers and sisters. She lived her life in Screven County and married Grover C. Moore, Jr. on January 10, 1943. She and Grover lived happily together for 66 years, until his death in 2008.

Sylvania -Dorothy Joyner Moore, age 90, went home to her Lord on Friday afternoon, June 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 20, 1926 to Mark and Lurene Joyner in Screven County, GA. She had 9 brothers and sisters. She lived her life in Screven County and married Grover C. Moore, Jr. on January 10, 1943. She and Grover lived happily together for 66 years, until his death in 2008.
Dorothy was a longtime, active member of First Baptist Church, Sylvania, GA where she was a dedicated member of the Elizabeth Sunday School Class, Betty Carpenter Circle and enjoyed being a big part of the senior group, Road Runners, for a many years.
Dot, as she was known to many, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, as well as an avid card player; she loved gardening and working in her yard and was also a great cook. She loved serving her Lord and others by providing flowers and flower arrangements and food for many occasions at church and for her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Glen Moore, her parents and nine siblings.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Denise Murray (Jimmy); son, Travis Moore (Diane); daughter-in-law, Wynelle Moore; 4 grandchildren - Blane Moore, Tyler Moore (Angie), Quint Moore (Brittany) and Tina Scott (Alan); 4 great-grandchildren - Hudson, Emme and Karter Moore, and Alan Scott (Evan), and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 11th at First Baptist Church, Sylvania at 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM followed by the Funeral Service at 4:00 PM with Dr. Charlie Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Screven County Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Tyler Moore, Quint Moore, Tommy Moore, Ronny Boucher, Boykin Stuart and Jay Brinson.
Remembrances may be made in her memory to Ogeechee Area Hospice, First Baptist Church, Sylvania or Double Heads Baptist Church, Sylvania, GA.
The family would like to thank Ogeechee Area Hospice for the loving care they provided for Dorothy and also a special thanks to Phyllis Lewis' and Ella Gadson's compassionate care.
